Hanoi tasked with designing plan for new tourism department

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has urged Hanoi to devise a plan for the establishment of a separate Department of Tourism and the restructuring of the Department of Culture and Sports, and to submit it to the municipal People’s Council as soon as possible.

Creating aDepartment of Tourism separate from the former Department of Culture,Sports and Tourism is expected to help Hanoi fully tap into itstourism potential and promote tourism more effectively.

Initial statistics show that Hanoi welcomed over 10 million visitorsduring the first six months of this year, a 4 percent rise compared tothe same period last year. This figure includes 1.6 millioninternational tourists, up by 8.8 percent.

Total earningsfrom tourism were estimated at 25.43 trillion VND (1.2 billion USD), anincrease of approximately 3 percent year on year.-VNA

Vietnam, Japan strengthen cooperation in leadership training

Stressing that Vietnam is entering a new stage of development with increasingly high demands on the quality of human resources, particularly strategic-level leaders and managers, Politburo member and Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA) Assoc. Vietnam Fisheries Society protests China’s unilateral fishing ban in East Sea

The society stressed that the ban is unilateral and unjustified; seriously infringes upon Vietnam’s sovereignty, rights and legitimate interests; violates international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS); and runs counter to the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC).

📝OP-ED: Freedom of belief and religion in Vietnam cannot be distorted

Child rights association puts online safety at forefront

Former health minister to stand trial on May 20
