Hanoi (VNA) – Chairman of the Hanoi People`s Committee NguyenDuc Chung expressed his hope that the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam will continuefostering cooperation between the two nations in tree planting, investment andtackling traffic congestion.

During his reception for newly-appointed Japanese Ambassador toVietnam Kunio Umeda in Hanoi on December 1, Chung highlighted the growingrelationship between Vietnam and Japan, as well as Hanoi and Japaneselocalities.

He acknowledged the contribution the Embassy has made to bilateralties between the two nations in past years, particularly in investment,official development assistance, culture, health care, infrastructure, andpeople-to-people exchange.

He also expressed his hope that the Ambassador will develop thecooperation in an extensive and effective manner.

For his part, Ambassador Kunio Umeda hoped that the city will help prepare forthe upcoming visit of the Japanese Emperor and Empress.-VNA
