Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi wants to enhance cooperation with Estonia to build infrastructure for smart city development, said Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung.

Hosting a reception for Estonian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andres Rundu in Hanoi on March 4, Chung said that as one of the 17 largest capitals in the world, Hanoi took the lead in FDI attraction across the country in 2018. The city’s average growth in the past eight years stood at 7.85 percent.

He noted that transport infrastructure development, high-quality human resources training and administrative reform are three breakthroughs in the city’s development strategy by 2020.

In the past time, information technology has been considered a tool to boost administrative reform, he said, adding that the city has finished developing its own database containing information of 7.5 million residents.

The Estonian guest, for his part, expressed his impression on Vietnam’s fast economic growth in the Southeast Asian region.

He hoped that bilateral collaboration will further develop in a more effective and practical manner.

Holding considerable strengths in information technology, public transport and digitalisation, Estonia stands ready to share experience with Vietnam and Hanoi in outlining solutions to e-Government and smart city development, he added.-VNA
