Hanoi witnesses surge in tourism in eight months

The capital city of Hanoi has witnessed a surge in tourism, welcoming a total of nearly 2.5 million visitors in August alone, including over 496,000 foreigners, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.

Throughout 2024, Hanoi's tourism industry has been on a steady upward trajectory, attracting 19 million visitors between January and August, a 12.3% year-over-year increase. With upcoming holidays and festive seasons, this positive trend shows no signs of slowing down.

Its tourism revenue has also soared, reaching nearly 3 billion USD during the period, marking an annual 19% rise.

This growth is underpinned by increased hotel occupancy rates, a broader range of accommodation options, and a diverse array of attractions and activities.

Hanoi now offers over 71,000 rooms across 3,760 accommodation establishments, catering to both domestic and foreign tourists with its extensive network of shopping, dining, and entertainment venues.

To capitalize on this momentum, Hanoi is launching a series of events and initiatives. The Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2024 and the Hanoi Gift Festival 2024 are just around the corner, along with a renewed focus on sports tourism and cultural and historical tourism products./.
