Hanoi (VNA) – A workshop marking the 100th anniversary of theOctober Revolution of Russia (November 7) took place in Hanoi on November 23.

Opening theevent, Vice President of the Vietnam Peace Committee Pham Van Chuonghighlighted the historic significance of the October Revolution to peace,national independence and social progress of peoples worldwide, including theVietnamese.

ViceDirector of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyen Viet Thao saidthe October Revolution 1917 has ended the monopoly era of capitalism in theglobal economy and politics, opening a new era for social progress.


President ofthe World Peace Organisation Socorro Gomes said celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution has inspired persevere and heroicfighting spirit of heroes who made the most exceptional liberation in the 20th century, thus saving nations from imperialism.

The eventprovides a chance to tighten trust and solidarity among democratic andprogressive forces for the sake of freedom, social and human liberation andpeace, she said.

Participantsdiscussed the October Revolution 1917 and the development path of the worldtoday, the struggles of peoples for peace, the Vietnam – Soviet Union andVietnam-Russia relations.

The eventwas co-hosted by the World Peace Council, the Vietnam Union of FriendshipOrganisations and the Vietnam Peace Committee.-VNA

Vietnam’s digital map updates 34 provincial-level administrative units
