Hanoi’s 10 outstanding young people to be honoured

Hanoi (VNA) – Ten outstanding young Hanoians will behonoured at a ceremony to be held by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’sHanoi chapter on January 7.

The youngsters have made marked achievements in such areas asstudy, scientific research, economic development, national defence-security,culture, arts, sports and volunteer activities.

Among them is Bui Hong Duc, a student of the Natural Science HighSchool for Gifted Students under the Hanoi National University, who won a goldmedal at the International Olympiad in Informatics 2019, a silver medal at theAsia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad 2019, and other awards.

Another brilliant face is Dr. Bui Hung Thang, Director of theCentre for Technology Application and Deployment under the Institute ofMaterials Science, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.

Thang owns two patents granted bythe Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam in 2019 and published many articleson national and international magazines.

His three other patents, comprising “LED LiquidCooling,” “Self-convective liquid-cooled LED bulbs” and “the process of makingsilicone radiator cream containing Graphene," have been applied bycompanies.

Weightlifter Vuong Thi Huyen is the only youthrepresenting athletes in the list. In 2019, she brought homethree gold medals at the Asian Weightlifting Championships; one gold medal atthe SEA Games 30; two golds and one silver at the 2019 World Cup; and one bronzemedal at the World Weightlifting Championship.

Duong Danh Dat, deputy head of Ly Thai To ward’spolice, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi, will be honoured for his noted performancein drug crime combat.  

The youngest face to be honoured is Le Trang Linh, a studentof the Piano Department, the Vietnam National Academy of Music, who has wonfirst prizes at four international contests.

Other youths are Tran PhuongThao, a lecturer of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, HanoiUniversity of Pharmacy; Ha Viet Hoang, a second-year student of the Electronicsand Telecommunications Department of Hanoi University of Science andTechnology; Pham Kim Hung, CEO - Founder of TechElite and BASE Inc; Hoang HoaTrung, Head of the volunteer group Niem Tin (Faith); and Le Huong Giang, a studentof University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University,Hanoi./.

Dak Lak completes nearly 90% of plan to eliminate substandard houses

As of July 9, 8,526 houses had been newly built or repaired, including 6,626 new constructions and 1,900 repairs, achieving 89.5% of the target. Over 6,000 houses have been handed over and are now occupied, providing stable accommodation for families benefiting from social policies, as well as low-income and near-poor households.

Banking sector donates 3.1 million USD to housing programme

Since April 2024, the banking sector has committed a total of 1.36 trillion VND to the programme. Of this amount, 1.1 trillion VND has already been disbursed, while the remaining funds will be released following the issuance of allocation guidelines by the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs (180 billion VND) and the submission of complete documents by localities (85 billion VND).

Vietnam fosters young talent in astrophysics through int'l summer school

The SAGI 2025 Summer School is one of the flagship initiatives of the Simons Astrophysics Group at ICISE (SAGI), which was recently established in Gia Lai with support from the US-based Simons Foundation and the guidance of Vietnamese-origin scientists such as Dr. Nguyen Trong Hien, Professor Hoang Chi Thiem (Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute), and Dr. Nguyen Luong Quang.

Can Tho reports no fishing violations in foreign waters for three years

Can Tho city is now home to 795 registered fishing vessels with a combined capacity of 209,648 horsepower. Among those, 346 vessels measure 15 metres or longer, requiring the installation of monitoring systems, and 28 vessels provide logistical support services to the fishing industry.

Vietnamese young intellectuals’ forum to highlight national development

Since its inception in 2018, the global forum of Vietnamese young intellectuals has attracted over 1,000 young intellectuals worldwide, contributing to programmes and policies related to developing young talents in Vietnam. The Global Vietnamese Young Intellectuals Network now has over 2,000 active members globally.

Young overseas Vietnamese write next chapter of peace
