Hanoi (VNA) - The July consumer price index (CPI) in Hanoi rose 0.11 percent compared to June and 2.6 percent year on year, the municipal Statistics Office (GSO) reported.
The biggest increase was seen in transportation services at 1.07 percent.
An upturn was seen in seven other goods and service groups, including beverage and cigarette 0.2 percent; apparel, headgear and footwear 0.05 percent; housing and construction materials 0.37 percent; home appliances 0.07 percent; medicine and health services 0.07 percent; goods and other services at 0.11 percent.
The prices of the group of education goods and services remained unchanged.
Meanwhile, restaurants and catering services prices went down 0.09 percent; the post and telecommunications group posted a 0.09 percent decrease; and culture, entertainment and tourism group felt 0.41 percent.
Total goods sales and services in Hanoi in the first seven months of the year were estimated at nearly 178 trillion VND (8 billion USD), up 0.7 percent from the previous month and 11.3 percent on a yearly basis.
Of which, retail sales recorded 41.8 trillion VND (1.88 billion USD), up 0.6 percent from the previous month and 8.1 percent from the same period last year.
In July, the gold price recovered, rising 0.69 percent and the VND/USD exchange rate was up 0.78 percent against last month.-VNA
