Hanoi’s CPI slightly falls in April

Hanoi’s consumer price index (CPI) decreased by a slight 0.2 percent in April as compared to March but still increased 9.44 percent over the same period last year, according to the city’s Statistics Office.

Commodity groups that saw decreases in price included food and restaurant services, culture-sports-entertainment services and post and telecommunication.

The prices of housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials rose by 1.96 percent while beverages and cigarettes, garments, hats and footwear, household equipment and utensils, transportation and education services experienced a slight increase, ranging from 0.03 percent to 0.29 percent.

This month, the price of gold declined 1.05 percent over last month but saw a year-on-year increase of 33.52 percent.

The price of US dollar also dropped 1.17 percent compared to March but went up 8.75 percent over the same period last year./.
