Hanoi’s gastronomy values yet fully tapped

Hanoi is listed among world’s top cities for food, which is considered as one of its strength for socio-economic development. However, reality shows the city has yet fully tapped the potential.

Through Internet, Bryan and Jenifer were eager to experience the diversified and fine cuisine of Hanoi. However, while visiting the city they found it hard to explore the city’s culinary culture.

Compared to other countries such as the Republic of Korea and Singapore, Hanoi definitely meets all the conditions to become one of the food centres in Southeast Asia, and in Asia at large.

The city’s standout culinary culture is not only a highlight in local tourism development, but also brings along economic effects as well as promoting its international integration. But in fact, its cuisine is considered an industry, not a key factor to lure tourists to the city.

Culinary artisan Pham Thi Tuyet said it’s high time professional culinary zones were established.

Relevant authorities are asked to invest more into promoting Hanoi’s culinary culture at domestic and international tourism events, while connecting tourism and culinary industry to fully tap the city’s potential.-VNA
