Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi’s Department of Industry and Trade eyes apickup of 7.7-8.1 percent in export revenue, 8.2 percent increase in Index ofIndustrial Production (IIP) and 11 percent surge in total retail sales.
The information was announced by the department’s Director Le Hong Thang onDecember 22.
In a bid to realise the set target, the department will enhance tradepromotion, seek ways to expand domestic markets and diversify export markets,and provide information on markets, export products and free trade agreementsthat Vietnam has joined in.
Developing support industries and attending international fairs to seekpartners will be prioritised as well.
Along with efforts to promote “Vietnamese people prioritise using Vietnamesegoods” campaign, the department will work to develop production, addressdifficulties for local enterprises, and speed up construction of shoppingmalls, supermarkets and markets.
Meanwhile, the city will pay due attention to curbing inflation rate andstabilising supply-demand.
The city’s industrial production in 2017 reached nearly 500 trillion VND (22billion USD), 7.3 percent higher than the figure in 2016. Export revenue rose10.3 percent year on year to 11.77 billion USD. -VNA
