Hanoi (VNA) – High-end hotels in Hanoi have been fully booked by Q1, 2018, showing a robust sign, especially when the city is carrying out a myriad of investment solutions to make a breakthrough in tourism.

Over 11 million visitors came to the city in the first six months of this year, including 2 million foreigners, up 13 percent from the same time last year.

Despite owning 600 accommodations, the city is still seeking to deal with the insufficient number of top-end hotels to meet demand of travellers, especially those from foreign countries.

Apart from four-star and five-star hotels built from April, 2011, including Marriot, Apricot, high-grade Landmark-Keangnam hotel and residence and Lotte hotel and apartment, the city has zoned off other places to build luxury hotels.

In the next five years, 20 luxury hotels with about 20,000 rooms will enter the market. Some are expected to be constructed in Hoan Kiem district, near Hoan Kiem (Returned Sword) Lake, in the heart of the city.

Hanoitourist Travel Company plans to build a hotel at No.1 Ba Trieu Street and renovate Hoa Binh hotel on Ly Thuong Kiet Street. Meanwhile, a new 300-room hotel complex is planned to sit on Thai Ha street, Dong Da district, a 500-room hotel in My Dinh, Nam Tu Liem district and a 600-room hotel in Dong Anh district.

The city will pay special attention to branching out new tourism products, popularising the city’s images to domestic and international friends and linking with other localities to develop tourism.

This year, the city is striving to welcome 23.61 million travellers, a year-on-year increase of 8 percent, with the number of foreign tourists standing at 4.3 million. -VNA
