Representatives from the World Bank (WB) held aworking session with the People’s Committee of Vi Thanh city to review the implementationof the project on the day.
Hoang Thi Hoa, senior urban development specialist whois also head of the project, pointed out roadblocks to the project, especiallyin the context of COVID-19 spread.
Over the past three years, the project’s steering andmanaging boards have shown their professionalism in management and madethorough preparations for the mid-term review which has reflected the progress ofeach item, she said.
Nguyen Viet Dung, Vice Chairman of the municipalPeople’s Committee, said the project has met aspirations of local residents andmatched the city’s socio-economic development plan.
The first phase of the six-year project, starting from2018, has been completed, and the second phase is underway.
The project has total investment capital of 36 millionUSD (830 million VND), of which 570 billion VND comes from the WB.
The development objective of the Scaling-Up Urban UpgradingProject for Vietnam is to improve access to infrastructure in priority cityareas and improve urban planning in the participating cities./.
