Hau Giang seeks stronger partnership with RoK province

Leaders of the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang had a meeting with a visiting delegation from the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s southwestern province of Jeollanam-do on March 21 to discuss future cooperation plans between the two localities.
Hau Giang (VNA) – Leaders of the Mekong Deltaprovince of Hau Giang had a meeting with a visiting delegation from theRepublic of Korea (RoK)’s southwestern province of Jeollanam-do on March 21 todiscuss future cooperation plans between the two localities.

Le Tien Chau, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committeeintroduced the locality’s natural conditions, socio-economic situation andcooperation outcomes between the province and RoK firms over the years.

Chau said that Hau Giang pays great attention to expandinginternational affiliation for its growth, noting that so far, the province hasset up partnership with many RoK localities and businesses.

He proposed that the two provinces consider the setting upof a trade promotion office in Naju city of Jeollanam-do province to helpconnect Hau Giang as well as Vietnamese localities with their RoK peers.

Chau expressed his hope to foster connection between thelocality and RoK investors in the province, and build an industrial park to exclusivelyhost RoK firms. He said he hopes that Hau Giang Radio and TV Station can set uppartnership with RoK radio and TV agencies, thus introducing the image ofVietnamese people and culture to Korean friends.

For his part, Kim Sun Yong from Naju city briefed his hoston the socio-economic situation of the province as well as its major products.

Kim said that Jeollanam-do province is keen on developingwin-win partnership with Hau Giang in various fields, pledging to work topromote the collaboration between RoK radio and TV agencies with that of HauGiang.

In the 2013-2018 period, Hau Giang set up twin relationswith two localities of Jeollanam-do, while signing a memorandum of understandingwith the RoK’s organization for new-style rural building on piloting thenew-style rural model in Phung Hiep and Long My districts, and coordinatingwith the RoK side in supporting marriage between Vietnamese and Korean people.

Hau Giang has also signed nine cooperation deals with theRoK in hi-tech agriculture, education, health care, and labour export.

In the future, Hau Giang will continue boosting partnershipwith Naju city on sending local labourers to work seasonally in the RoK inagriculture, and supporting training of local officials in hi-tech agriculture.

It will work closely with Jeollanam-do in establishing the trade promotion officein Naju. Alongside, Hau Giang will step up the construction of an industrialpark for Korean firms in Chau Thanh A district, and build a cooperation planbetween the provincial radio and TV station with the RoK’s KBS TV.-VNA

Breeding cows presented to poor households along Vietnam–Cambodia border
