Hau Giang (VNA) – Leaders of the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang had a meeting with a visiting delegation from the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s southwestern province of Jeollanam-do on March 21 to discuss future cooperation plans between the two localities.
Le Tien Chau, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee introduced the locality’s natural conditions, socio-economic situation and cooperation outcomes between the province and RoK firms over the years.
Chau said that Hau Giang pays great attention to expanding international affiliation for its growth, noting that so far, the province has set up partnership with many RoK localities and businesses.
He proposed that the two provinces consider the setting up of a trade promotion office in Naju city of Jeollanam-do province to help connect Hau Giang as well as Vietnamese localities with their RoK peers.
Chau expressed his hope to foster connection between the locality and RoK investors in the province, and build an industrial park to exclusively host RoK firms. He said he hopes that Hau Giang Radio and TV Station can set up partnership with RoK radio and TV agencies, thus introducing the image of Vietnamese people and culture to Korean friends.
For his part, Kim Sun Yong from Naju city briefed his host on the socio-economic situation of the province as well as its major products.
Kim said that Jeollanam-do province is keen on developing win-win partnership with Hau Giang in various fields, pledging to work to promote the collaboration between RoK radio and TV agencies with that of Hau Giang.
In the 2013-2018 period, Hau Giang set up twin relations with two localities of Jeollanam-do, while signing a memorandum of understanding with the RoK’s organization for new-style rural building on piloting the new-style rural model in Phung Hiep and Long My districts, and coordinating with the RoK side in supporting marriage between Vietnamese and Korean people.
Hau Giang has also signed nine cooperation deals with the RoK in hi-tech agriculture, education, health care, and labour export.
In the future, Hau Giang will continue boosting partnership with Naju city on sending local labourers to work seasonally in the RoK in agriculture, and supporting training of local officials in hi-tech agriculture.
It will work closely with Jeollanam-do in establishing the trade promotion office in Naju. Alongside, Hau Giang will step up the construction of an industrial park for Korean firms in Chau Thanh A district, and build a cooperation plan between the provincial radio and TV station with the RoK’s KBS TV.-VNA
