HCM City: 200 enterprises honoured for contributions to customs sector

The Customs Department of Ho Chi Minh City held a conference on January 31 to honour 200 outstanding enterprises which had contributed much to the sector’s budget in 2017.

HCM City (VNA) – The Customs Department of Ho Chi Minh City held aconference on January 31 to honour 200 outstanding enterprises which hadcontributed much to the sector’s budget in 2017.

The businesses, including the Imex Pan-Pacific Group (IPPGroup), Truong Hai Automobile JSC, Phu Nhuan Jewelry JSC and Unilever VietnamInternational Company Limited, account for only 0.43 percent of the city’stotal, but contributed 45 percent of the customs sector’s budget collection, or48.5 trillion VND (2.13 billion USD).

Deputy head of the department Dinh Ngoc Thang appreciatedthe businesses’ cooperation with the customs sector, affirming that they havemade effective recommendations to help the sector gradually improve itspolicies and mechanisms.

Thang pledged that the department will continue facilitatingthe implementation of customs procedures at border gates, disseminate new legaldocuments and regulations to enterprises.

It will exert efforts to fight goods smuggling and tradefraud, and to create a favourable business and healthily competitiveenvironment for businesses.

IPP Group President Johnathan Hanh Nguyen stated that thecustoms sector of Ho Chi Minh City carried out numerous modern managementprogrammes to create favourable conditions for import-export enterprises andpeople.

He stressed the need for the sector to take more measures toprevent fake and smuggled products in order to protect true businesses whichcontribute much to the city’s budget.-VNA

Passenger cars accounted for the largest number of sales with 22,934 vehicles, up 14.6% over the previous month. Meanwhile, sales of commercial vehicles reached 8,782, down 2%, while specialised vehicle sales reached 261, up 23% over the previous month.

HCM City approves 17 housing projects for foreign ownership

2025 coffee exports hit target, set for record 7.5 billion USD

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE), Vietnam exported an estimated 953,900 tonnes of coffee worth 5.45 billion USD in the first six months of 2025, increasing by 5.3% in volume and 67.5% in value compared to the same period in 2024.
