HCM City: 449 people pledge to donate organs

As many as 449 people attending a ceremony on November 28 signed a pledge to donate their organs after death to the National Coordination Centre for Organ Transplantation.

HCM City (VNA) - As many as 449 people attending a ceremony on November 28 signed apledge to donate their organs after death to the National Coordination Centrefor Organ Transplantation.

The centre, along withthe Buddhism Fund, organised the ceremony at HCM City’s Giac Ngo Pagoda toencourage organ donations.

According to Nguyen HoangPhuc, deputy head of the centre, more than 16,000 people in the country haveserious heart, kidney, liver and lung problems that could require organtransplants. More than 300,000 people have cornea problems which need surgery.

Phuc said there was ashortage of organs for transplantation. The ceremony to encourage organdonations is held regularly by the national centre at various locations in thecountry.-VNA

Over 1.2 million students begin national high school graduation exam

Under the current examination format, candidates are required to complete the mandatory Literature and Mathematics tests, along with a combined test comprising two subjects selected from a range of options, including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Foreign Languages, History, Geography, Technology-Industry, Technology-Agriculture, and Economics-Law. Students may also choose to take a foreign language different from the one studied at school.

Rare green sea turtle released back into the wild in Quang Tri

The green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas), locally known as vich, is a rare and protected species under Vietnamese law. It is also listed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as a species of conservation concern and is included in the appendices of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
