HCM City (VNA) – The HCM City People’s Committee has approved an action plan for a national poverty alleviation project that will be piloted in the city.

The project called “Support for reduction of multi-dimensional poverty in urban areas” with an outlay of 8.17 billion VND (366,300 USD) is funded by the United Nations Development Programme.

It will monitor and analyse multi-dimensional poverty in urban areas, especially poverty among migrants and labourers in the informal sector, on a regular basis to provide inputs for development and implementation of poverty reduction policies and programmes and socio-economic development in the city.

Multi-dimensional poverty issues, particularly poverty among migrants and labourers in the informal sector, will be addressed in the city through creative and effective poverty alleviation and socio-economic policies based on accurate and transparent inputs.-VNA
