Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok can work closely to tackle common social problems, like traffic congestion, environmental pollution and flooding.

Surachai Liengboonlertchai, Vice President of the Senate of Thailand, made the suggestion at his meeting on December 14 with Chairwoman of HCM City People’s Council Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam, during his working visit to Vietnam .

The Thai official noted that those problems are also facing other big and populous cities in the world.

He wished for an increase in exchange of visit at both legislative and local levels between the two countries.

Tam welcomed Liengboonlertchai’s visit, expressing her belief that it will further the two countries’ traditional friendship and comprehensive relations.

The relations between Vietnam and Thailand are growing significantly, especially after the recent visit to Thailand by National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, she said.

Tam said she hopes that the Senate of Thailand will create favourable conditions for localities of Thailand and HCM City to exchange delegations and experiences on issues of mutual concern like tackling environmental pollution, traffic jam and flood.-VNA
