HCM City (VNA) - The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has called for investment in building an Intelligent Operations Centre (IOC) and a Socio-Economic Simulation and Forecast Centre.

The two centres are among the key measures in a master plan on developing Ho Chi Minh City into a smart city in the 2017-2020 period, with a vision to 2025.

A conference to call for investments in the two works was held in the city on September 15, with Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan in attendance.

The conference focused on calling on investors to share experience and technologies on building and launching a vision and criteria for building Ho Chi Minh City into a smart city, as well as to select investors for the city’s major construction projects.

From late 2017, the city issued a project on building the city into a smart city for the 2017-2025 period.

Building a smart urban centre aims to maintain high, sustainable economic growth, raise local residents’ living standards while providing the people with best services to ensure that authorities serve the people best and the people take part in managing and supervising the authorities.

The project also aims to resolve the city’s existing problems such as unsustainable economic growth, flooding, traffic jams, and environment pollution, as well as enhancing the interaction between city’s administration, businesses and citizens in the building and development of the country.

Urban management which is associated with smart cities aims to maintain a high rate of economic growth, especially sustainable economic development, improve the living standards and provide better services for local people.-VNA
