HCM City celebrates August Revolution, National Day

Addressing the ceremony, Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan reviewed the country’s glorious history during the struggle for independence as well as the cause of national protection and construction.

The victory of the August Revolution has demonstrated President Ho Chi Minh’s saying: “Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom” and the Vietnamese people’s great strength under the leadership of the communist party and President Ho Chi Minh had put an end to the feudal colonial regime, opening the way for the country to advance along the direction of people’s democratic revolution and socialism, he said.

On this occasion, on behalf of the Party and State, PM Dung presented the Ho Chi Minh Award to the family of the late painter Nguyen Gia Tri, and the State Award to painter Nguyen Cao Thuong and researcher Vu Ngoc Lien.

Several photo exhibitions highlighting Vietnam ’s development over the past 67 years got underway as part of activities to mark the special day.

The exhibitions will last until Sept. 10.-VNA
