A concert will be held at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House on March 9 to commemorate the 330th anniversary of the birth of Johannes Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel, both born in 1685.
The event will take place amid an array of activities held around the world to celebrate the composers, the HCM City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO) said.
The concert will feature the composers' prominent works, including Bach's Orchestral Suite No 3 in D Major BWV 1068 and Keyboard Concerto in D Minor BWV 1052, performed by pianist Igor Chistokletov.
Excerpts from Handel's works, including Solomon HWV 67, Rinaldo HWV 7, Ode for St Cecilia's day HWV 76, Samson HWV 57, Serse HWV40 and Messiah HWV 56, will be performed by Vietnamese soprano Nguyen Duyen Huyen, Korean soprano Cho Hae-royng and Vietnamese baritone Dao Mac, accompanied by the HBSO Chorus and Symphony Orchestra.
