HCM City: drug precursor found in tea sent to Australia

Ho Chi Minh City ’s customs force has detected and seized a kilogram of pseudoephedrine, a precursor used to produce methamphetamine, in a package shipped to Australia.
Ho Chi Minh City ’s customs force has detected and seized a kilogram of pseudoephedrine, a precursor used to produce methamphetamine, in a package shipped to Australia.

According to the municipal Express Delivery Customs Department, the 2.9 kg package was sent by an individual from the southernmost province of Ca Mau on April 15. The sender declared that it included dried cashew nuts and instant tea.

The department is working with the police to expand the investigation.

Over the past six months, it has detected and seized nearly 60 kg of drugs, including over 54 kg of pseudoephedrine and 4.22 kg of heroin. All of which were stashed in foodstuff.-VNA
