The Criminal Science Institute and police have set up a DNA testing centre in the city, the country’s second of its kind.
Senior Lieutenant Colonel Truong Duc Khai, deputy director of The Criminal Science Institute’s Biological Legal Assessment Centre, said the centre, which opened at the HCM City Criminal Science sub-institute in District 1 March 23, will provide evidence for civil and criminal cases and paternity tests.
Members of the general public with need for DNA testing can call on the sub-institute to get instructions in using and collecting samples for tests.
The test results would be available in a day in case of criminal investigations and one to two weeks in case of paternity tests, Khai said./.
