Besides domestic exporters, the four-day event has drawn businesses from 12 countries and territories, showcasing a wide range of products such as fine art articles, handicrafts, timber furniture, home decoration, fashion accessories and jewelry at more than 800 booths.
A design contest will be held as part of the fair to promote creativity.
Chairman of the Vietnam Handicraft Exporters Association Do Nhu Dinh said the expo has welcomed nearly 2,000 foreign buyers from 32 nations and territories, including 400 from Japan, over 300 from Europe, 180 from the US and nearly 100 from Australia, in addition to many major importers from Canada, Chile, and Mexico.
Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Tran Quoc Khanh said the wood and handicraft sector is one of the key foreign currency earners of the nation, raking in 6.5 billion USD in export revenue in 2013.-VNA
