Thesystem officially started operating at Tan Cang - Cat Lai and Tan Thuan portson August 24. It optimises the delivery of goods from port dealers, helpingcustoms officers efficiently manage goods at ports, warehouses and yards.
DinhNgoc Thang, Director of the municipal Customs Department, said that the VASSCM helpedto make a breakthrough in customs management in the direction of modernity andtransparency, thus enabling customs officers strengthen their work to combatsmuggling and trade fraud.
Inorder to effectively implement this new automated management system, Thangrecommended the operators of ports, warehouses and yards and export-importcompanies coordinate closely with the customs office to accelerate thedeployment of the system.
Accordingto HCM City’s Customs Department, the implementation of this new managementsystem allows customs declarants not to show paper documents when deliveringgoods through the customs supervision area as before, which reduces costs.
Inaddition, it helps port operators, warehouses and yards strictly control thegoods put into operation, taking the initiative in loading and unloading,raising the capacity of exploiting and releasing goods and reducing costs byminimising paperwork between the parties.
Afterthe ports of Tan Cang - Cat Lai and Tan Thuan, from August 28, the departmentwill continue to deploy the system at the SPTC port. It is expected that inSeptember this year, it will be implemented at all ports, warehouses and otherplaces in the city.-VNA
