Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan made the suggestion at a March 21 reception for visiting Crown Prince of Norway Haakon Magnus, and expressed his belief that the guest’s trip will help open up a new phase of the two countries’ flourishing ties, now in their 40th year.

Quan said Ho Chi Minh City, the leading economic hub of the country, will spare no effort to reinforce and strengthen ties between the two countries.

For his part, Haakon asserted that Norway and Vietnam possess great cooperation potential on the basis of their durable, sustainable and close ties.

The two sides are able to further their cooperation in maritime issues, hydroelectricity, information technology, communications and industry, he added.

During his visit to the city, the royal guest attended a conference on the Vietnam-Norway Free Trade Agreement and made fact-finding tours to some Norwegian businesses operating in the city.-VNA
