HCM City (VNA) -  The HCM City Departmentof Transport has set up response teams to supervise the implementation ofCOVID-19 prevention measures by road and water transport operators. 
 
Theteams comprising officials from the transport, health and public securitydepartments, which began functioning on July 31, are assigned to monitorpandemic control measures adopted by transport companies at inter-provincialbus stations, ferry stations, inland ports, and public vehicles.

Theywill draw up and send the list of people returning from Da Nang City and QuangNam and Quang Ngai provinces since July 1 onwards and send them to the HCM CityCentre for Disease Control and Prevention (HCDC) for COVID-19 consultancy andtesting.

Thedepartment has instructed all bus drivers, attendants and commuters to wearmasks on public transport vehicles and at coach stations, wharves and trainstations.

Handsanitizer must be provided to all passengers on vehicles.  

Speakingat a meeting of the city Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Controlon July 31, Le Thanh Liem, vice chairman of the city People’s Committee, urgeddistrict and department officials to coordinate closely with the HCDC to takesamples for coronavirus testing from everyone who has come into contactwith COVID-19 patients or returned from Da Nang.

Alarge number of people have been returning to HCM City from Da Nang, making thecity a high-risk locality for community transmission, Liem said.

NguyenTan Binh, director of the city Department of Health, warned people to avoidgatherings of 20 people or more and maintain a distance of at least one meterfrom others.

Peopleshould stay at home and avoid going out unnecessarily, he said.

HCMCity has tested people returning from Da Nang at the rate of 8,000-9,000 a dayby 13 health facilities.

Asof August 2 morning, six people had tested positive.

Morethan 26,600 people returning from Da Nang since July 1 have filled in medicaldeclaration forms and 16,473 have had tests.

Coast Guard Region 2 promotes IUU-free fishing among Quang Ngai fishermen

The Command of Coast Guard Region 2 briefed the fishermen on the Law of the Sea of Vietnam, the Fisheries Law, and legal documents related to IUU prevention. Officers also provided guidance on identifying areas under Vietnam’s sovereignty and jurisdiction, traditional fishing grounds, warning zones, and prohibited fishing areas.
