Some 17,000 are required by the trade and services sector and 8,000 in industry-construction.

Businesses have increased recruitment of seasonal workers.

Nguyen Van Sang, director of the HCM City Youth Vocational Training, Career Orientation and Employment Service Centre, said local businesses would need more than 3,000 part-time and unskilled workers during the upcoming New Year and Tet (Lunar New Year) holidays.

There is also rising demand for part-time workers in sales, services, cash, restaurants and hotels, shipping, and customer care to meet the increasing holiday demand.

The centre is implementing a programme called ‘A month of supporting and accompanying workers’ to help students and laid-off and furloughed workers find jobs./.
