HCM City okays Can Gio bridge

The HCM City People’s Committee has approved a proposal to build the 3.4km Can Gio Bridge above the Soai Rap River linking Can Gio district with the inner city.

HCMCity (VNA) - The HCM City People’s Committee has approved a proposalto build the 3.4km Can Gio Bridge above the Soai Rap River linking Can Giodistrict with the inner city.

TheCan Gio Urban and Tourism JSC and Trung Nam Construction Investment JSC hadsubmitted a proposal to build the bridge, which will have four lanes and aclearance of 55 metres above the river.

Itis expected to cost 8 trillion VND 351.3 million USD).

Simultaneously,Rung Sac street leading from the river to Can Gio will be upgraded and widenedby the Can Gio Urban and Tourism JSC.

Thebridge will help reduce travel time between the rest of HCM City and Can Gio districtby replacing the Binh Khanh ferry which had become a burden due to the increasein the number of passengers.

Inaddition to the obvious economic benefits better connectivity will bring, thebridge is also expected to help develop tourism in Can Gio.-VNA
