HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City always attaches great importance to enhancing friendship and cooperation with Korean localities, including Gyeonggi province’s Ansan city, said Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Council Pham Duc Hai.
Hosting a reception for Yoon Wha-sub, Governor of Ansan city, on April 23, Hai said that the Vietnamese southern hub has set up friendship relations with seven Korean localities so far, laying the foundations for the city and Ansan to bolster collaboration.
As HCM City is developing its four key industries of mechanics, electronics, chemicals-plastic-rubber, and food processing, it has carried out a number of programmes and favourable policies to call for investments in its industrial parks, he said.
Hai wished that HCM City and Ansan, which has an industrial complex with more than 10,000 plants, could share experience in the effective operation of industrial zones as well as build long-term cooperation plans.
He also expressed his hope that after this working session, Ansan city will encourage its businesses to land investment in the Vietnamese city’s main industries.
Yoon, for his part, wanted both sides to develop their long-term and sustainable cooperative relations, saying that after his visit to HCM City, they will advance collaboration in the fields of trade and industry, as well as sports and cultural exchanges.
As a multicultural city, Ansan hosts some 86,000 foreigners from 109 different countries who move there for studies and employment opportunities. Local authorities have always facilitated conditions for foreigners, including its 3,000 Vietnamese nationals, he added. –VNA
