HCM City (VNA) – Enterprises in the southern city of Ho Chi Minh will need to employ 19,000 workers after Tet holiday, of which part-time and seasonal labourers will account for 30 percent, said the city’s Centre for Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labour Market Information.
Accordingly, sectors in need of workers include marketing, tourism services, hospitality, market survey, housekeeping, delivery, electronics, seafood – food processing, apparel, and advertising.
Deputy Head of the centre Tran Anh Tuan said social welfare for labourers, salary and remuneration policies, as well as support from the State and companies , coupled with labourers demand on having stable jobs, have helped to reduce the shortage of unskilled labourers during the period.
Along side this, in the first month of 2016, many enterprises have taken the initiative in recruitment planning, in order to stabilise human resource after the holiday in various sectors such as information technology, accounting-auditing, finance-credit, operating management, and apparel-footwear.
A human resource shortage is forecasted from between 3 to 4 percent while labour movement among enterprises is expected to reach 6-8 percent in the first quarter of this year.
Some sectors has recruited large number of seasonal laborers in the first month of this year to serve surging demand of the Lunar New Year season, such as transport and logistics in import-export and services with 12.6 and 11.2 percent increases respectively from December last year.-VNA
