HCM City tourism festival generates 120 billion VND in revenues

A tourism festival in Ho Chi Minh City under the theme “Happy Summer 2019” ended on April 14 with total sales of participating travel agencies reported at 120 billion VND (nearly 5.2 million USD) after four days.

HCM City (VNA) – A tourism festival in Ho Chi MinhCity under the theme “Happy Summer 2019” ended on April 14 with totalsales of participating travel agencies reported at 120 billion VND (nearly 5.2million USD) after four days.

The figure represented a 45 percent increase from a similarevent held last year.

An estimated 250,000 visitorsarrived at the festival to look for good deals offered by more than 40 travelcompanies. The companies offered nearly 70,000 domestic and overseas tourpackages with discounts from 20 to 50 percent.

Some airlines such as VietnamAirlines and Bamboo Airways also offer discounted tickets for routes departingfrom the city.

In the framework of the festival,several events were held such as a forum on Vietnam’s tourism human resources,a ceremony to honour 100 leading tourism brands and an exchange programme onhigh-tech application in tourism.

The Ho Chi Minh City tourismfestival is held annually in April, creating an excellent opportunity for travelcompanies to promote tours among visitors in the city and neighbouringlocalities.

In 2018, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed 36.5million visitors, including 7.5 million foreigners, a year-on-year rise of17.83 percent. The city aims to serve 8.5 foreign visitors in 2019, up 14percent against the previous year.-VNA
