The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s chapter in Ho Chi Minh City on July 29 launched a campaign of voluntary activities in Laos to tighten the friendship between youth of the two countries.

About 100 young people in the city have joined the campaign, which will be carried out in Laos’ Attapeu and Champasak provinces until August 8.

In Attapeu, the volunteers will give free health check-ups and medicine to 2,000 residents and deliver gift packages to disadvantaged people. They plan to offer a course on rice and food crop farming techniques and another on how to use electricity safely for locals.

The volunteers will also join in a wide range of cultural and sports exchanges with Attapeu youth.

During the campaign in Champasak, around 1,500 people will benefit from free medical examinations while students from disadvantaged backgrounds will receive 15 scholarships and 2,000 notebooks.

The volunteers will help teaching staff and students of the Champassak National University improve their computer skills. Local farmers will also receive training on the prevention of diseases of livestock and crops.-VNA
