Health insurance overspending hit 3.4 trillion VND
As of August 2016, health insurance expenditure by 37 localities exceeded their designated expenses by over 3.4 trillion VND. If the trend is not tackled, imbalance will occur in 2019.
The overspending of the health insurance fund and measures to prevent abuse of health insurance were the main theme of a teleconference held by the Government e-portal on October 12.
The northern province of Nam Dinh aims to cover additional 8,000-10,000 workers at non-State enterprises with health and social insurance by the end of this year.
The Health Ministry reported the health insurance coverage will reach around 79 percent by the end of this year compared to the set target of 76 percent.
The Hanoi Department of Health will expand the health insurance coverage among poor people living with HIV/AIDS by giving them financial support sourced from the city’s health insurance fund.
