Hanoi (VNA) –
Hessen State plays animportant role in promoting economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam andGermany, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh said at a reception forPresident of the Hessen State Parliament Boris Rhein in Hanoi on November12.

Binh said some major groups from Hessen havebeen operating effectively in Vietnam and suggested the two sides encouragemore German businesses to invest in Vietnam in diverse fields such aschemicals, pharmaceuticals, mechanical engineering, supporting industry, farmproduce processing, and production of natural rubber products.

He proposed the State’s authorities to createfavourable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises such as national flag carrierVietnam Airlines, Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade(Vietinbank), and FPT Software Company Limited to operate effectively inHessen.

The Deputy PM highly appreciated thecontributions of Rhein to the Vietnam-Germany University project when he held theposition of Minister of Sciences and Arts of Hessen, as well as his support forVietnam in human resources training in the fourth Industrial Revolution.

Binh hoped Rhein and parliamentarians of Hessenwill continue strengthening cooperation with the Vietnamese Government insharing experience in building the law-governed state and making laws on publicinvestment management, public-private partnership, urban management, ande-commerce.

He also suggested Rhein to urge the EuropeanUnion (EU) to soon ratify the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and theEU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (IPA), which are expected to bringenormous benefits to people and businesses of the two sides.

For his part, Rhein said that Vietnam is therotating Chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Germanis the rotating Chair of the EU in 2020, which he said, will create new impetusto deepen the bilateral relationship.

The two sides are looking forward to theratification of the EVFTA, which was signed in June 2019, as the agreement willbring the two markets closer together, he said.

The official added that he will strive to buildthe Vietnam-Germany University into a symbol of the bilateral relations./.
