The 11th Vietnam International Textile and Garment Industry Exhibition 2011 opened in Ho Chi Minh City on Oct. 19.
The four-day event drew the participation of 230 enterprises from 15 countries and territories, which are showcasing their latest products and technologies.
As part of the event, the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Textile, Garment, Embroidery-Knitting hosted a seminar on technical tendency and leading technologies of the garment sector at present.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam earned over 1 billion USD each month from garment exports. This figure is expected to reach 13-13.5 billion USD by the end of this year.
At present, Vietnam’s largest textile importers are the US which accounts for 51 percent of the country’s total export turnover, the European Union with 17 percent and Japan, 12 percent./.
