Hoi An – A hub for cultural creativity

Hoi An is not just famous for its historic architecture and cultural heritage that has been preserved for centuries. It is also a hotspot for artists from all over, both local and international, who come to dive into their creative passions. This focus on creativity helps the city keep its cultural tourism unique and exciting, drawing in more visitors.

For the first time, a unique stage was erected amidst the rice fields in Hoi An to present contemporary dance with folk music.

The 60-minute performance, titled “Straw,” celebrated the scenic beauty of Hoi An's countryside at sunset. It attracted hundreds of spectators, including many foreign tourists.

Hoi An’s picturesque landscapes and the simple rural lifestyle have long inspired artists. The region’s rich heritage and cultural values offer substantial opportunities for artists to create works that blend traditional and modern elements.

Hoi An ancient town has been the setting for distinctive artistic programs such as “The Silk Colors” and “Hoi An Memories.”

At the end of 2023, Hoi An was officially designated by UNESCO as a “Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art,” a recognition that supports the city’s ongoing efforts to nurture creativity and uphold artistic values rooted in Vietnamese tradition.
