A mobile school, to be towed by a truck, one of the two schools ofits kind funded by the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC),has been launched in the Mekong Delta.
The second school, to be built on a boat, will be launched early next year.
The mobile schools project, which is part of the bank’s flagshipeducation programme Future First that has donated 339,500 USD to thecountry, will benefit around 150 local teachers and 18,000 disadvantagedstudents.
The Mekong Delta is one of the three mostvulnerable to the onslaught and subsequent backlash of climate change inthe world.
It is forecast that by the end of the century,sea water levels will rise by one metre – submerging 40 percent of theMekong Delta, 11 percent of the Red River Delta and 3 percent of coastalprovinces.-VNA
