Thua Thien – Hue (VNA) – Kwang Han, mayor of Namyangju city, the Republic of Korea, was conferred an honorary citizenship of Hue by the city’s authorities at a ceremony held in the central province of Thua Thien – Hue on April 27.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thanh praised Kwang Han’s effective and meaningful contribution to Hue.
He hoped with the new position, the RoK official will continue his support toward socio-economic, cultural, health and educational development of Thua Thien-Hue province in general and Hue city in particular.
Expressing his pride to receive the honour, Kwang Han pledged to try harder in helping more Koreans know about Vietnam.
He said he is working to push for the establishment of a direct flight between Hue and Namyangju.
The RoK mayor has made a series of efforts to boost ties between the two cities, resulting in the sides’ signing in October 2018 of a memorandum of understanding on fostering bilateral exchanges and cooperation in economy, tourism, culture, history, and other sectors of common interest.-VNA
