Hanoi (VNA) – Experts have announced the discovery of hundreds of rare primates in the central province of Quang Binh.
The local Forest Ranger Department and the Viet Nature Conservation Centre said 58 groups of white cheeked gibbons were identified in the Khe Nuoc Trong project area in Kim Thuy commune, Le Thuy district.
This is the area with the most groups and individuals of white cheeked gibbons in the North Central Region.
In addition to that, between 98-108 red-shanked doucs in nine groups were also identified in the section of the Ho Chi Minh Road passing through the province. The two species of primate are listed as needing protection in the Vietnamese and world red books.-VNA
