Hung Yen (VNA) – The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the northern province of Hung Yen on August 14 coordinated with the Agricultural Trade Promotion Centre under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to organise a forum on trade promotion for agricultural products in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Speaking at the forum, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Van Trang said that the province now has 199 One Commune-One Product (OCOP) products rated with 3 stars or more.

However, many specialty agricultural products and quality OCOP products are only known locally and have not reached many consumers outside the province.

Trang said that the biggest bottleneck now lies in the connection between producers and distributors.

It’s necessary to promote communication and develop branding to create a favourable environment to connect producers and distributors, he said.

To better compete in the market and meet strict requirements on food safety and traceability, enterprises, organisations, and individuals need to renovate their production, invest in technology, build concentrated raw material areas, apply good agricultural production practice programmes, system advanced quality control in food production and trading, development of high-tech agricultural production and large-scale production associated with preservation, processing, and consumption.

E-commerce has become an indispensable part of the global economic development. It is an important tool for every business, especially farmers.

At the forum, local businesses, cooperatives, farmers, and OCOP product owners were told about modern distribution systems, especially e-commerce. They were instructed to set up and operate an online store.

Particularly, representatives of Tiktok Vietnam Technology Co., Ltd. instructed local businesses on how to sell their products on the Tiktok platform.

Nguyen Kim Thuy, a local businesswoman from Tien Chau Pho Hien Cooperative, said that she created her Tiktok account two months ago to introduce her products to online shoppers.

Her first TikTok clip received positive feedback, which motivated her to continue making others. Thanks to the TikTok platform, Thuy has reached more and more consumers and received more orders.

Nguyen Huu Dai in Hung Dao commune, An Thi district, also built a TikTok channel to sell agricultural products.

On the first day he sold online, Dai received nearly 100 orders while he just expected about 10, he said, adding that reaching more consumers inspires him a lot to choose modern distribution channels to sell agricultural products./.
