HCM City (VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh City customs and police officials on May 29 seized used Roulette gambling machines that were disguised and declaired as new gaming machines.

According to the Tan Son Nhat Airport Customs Office, the machines were owned by Phuong Dong company in Phu My ward of District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, and were to be shipped from the city to Cambodia through Moc Bai international border gate in Tay Ninh province.

The company stated on customs declaration forms that the 1.5-tonne shipment was made up of new roulette game machines of Afastreet brand machines, worth nearly 400 million VND.

Customs officials discovered that the shipment was actually disassembled gambling machines divided in six packs without licencing.

The machines are prohibited imports in Vietnam, and transiting them through the country requires permission from the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The batch is being held for further investigation.

The Tan Son Nhat Airport Customs Office revealed that so far, the office has worked with agencies to detect seven cases involving 10 billion VND worth of goods being illegally transited to Cambodia through border gates.-VND
