Hanoi (VNA) – The Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) has selected Vietnam's northern province of Ninh Binh as the venue for its annual conference, set to take place from January 17-20, 2025. Themed "Tourism for Tomorrow: Preserving the Planet", the event underscores locality’s growing role as a rising star in global tourism, particularly among the Indian travelers.

The selection is a result of ongoing efforts by Vietnam’s Consulate General in Mumbai since July 2024 to foster connections between TAFI and the province.

TAFI President Ajay Prakash highlighted the booming Indian tourism industry, which has seen record-breaking domestic and outbound travel despite slower international arrivals post-COVID-19. He emphasised the importance of sustainability in tourism and aknowledged that it is no longer just a slogan but the most critical demand for the tourism sector today. As a leading travel association in India, TAFI is committed to raising awareness among its members and encouraging responsible tourism practices among their clients.

Prakash praised Vietnam for its beauty and rising popularity among the Indian travelers but noted that Ninh Binh, though stunning, remains relatively unknown. He expressed TAFI’s aim to introduce its members to unique, less-explored destinations like Ninh Binh.

Vietnamese Consul General in Mumbai Le Quang Bien expressed his pride in hosting the TAFI 2025 conference in Ninh Binh, calling it a testament to the deepening ties between Vietnam and India.

Bien noted that the conference’s theme aligns closely with Vietnam’s commitment to sustainable tourism and environmental preservation.

The diplomat expressed anticipation for showcasing Vietnam's unique experiences and welcoming TAFI delegates to discover the charm and hospitality of Ninh Binh, emphasising the potential to inspire a new wave of responsible tourism that will benefit both communities and the environment.
