Lieut. Gen. Vo Van Tuan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, received Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar, Commander of the Indian Naval Eastern Fleet, in Hanoi on May 22.
At the meeting, the two sides said apart from cooperation in existing areas, the countries’ navies need to expand to other areas of mutual concern in line with the interests of each country’s people, for peace, cooperation and common development in the region and the world.
Lieut. Gen. Tuan affirmed that the Indian officer’s current visit to Vietnam not only continues to implement the memorandum of understanding on defence cooperation between the two countries, but also is a vivid manifestation of the traditional friendship between the people and armies of the two countries and the two navies in particular.
Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar expressed his pleasure to visit Hai Phong, Ha Long Bay and Hanoi and to learn more about the land and people of Vietnam./.
