Hanoi (VNA) – Indonesia and Australia are set to sign a comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA) next week.
Indonesian Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita and his Australian counterpart Simon Birmingham are due to sign the deal worth billions of USD in Jakarta on March 4.
The agreement will benefit Australia’s fields of agriculture, healthcare, and education as well as make it easier to access to the Southeast Asian market.
In return, Indonesia’s sectors of garment-textiles, automatic machinery, wood for export, electronic products, and pharmaceuticals will be promoted as Australia is widening its door to the Southeast Asian country.
Two-way trade between Indonesia and Australia reached 11.7 billion USD in 2017.
Indonesia and Australia started negotiations on the CEPA from 2010.–VNA
