
Hanoi (VNA) – Indonesiaand Bangladesh inked five cooperation deals on fishing, trade, diplomacy,energy and the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) during IndonesianPresident Joko Widodo’s trip to Bangladesh from January 28.
The agreements were signed aftertalks between the host’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the IndonesianPresident in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka.
Bangladesh Oil, Gas and MineralCorporation signed a deal to purchase LNG with its Indonesian partnerPertamina.
With a population of more than 160million people, Bangladesh needs to import 17.5 million tonnes of LNG per year.The country earlier signed a LNG import agreement with Qatar, showing itsposition as an emerging market for energy consumption.
Earlier, Widodo paid a two-day statevisit to Pakistan to bolster cooperation between the countries with the world’slargest Muslim populations.-VNA
