Indonesia considers joining "Vaccinated Travel Lanes"

The Indonesian Government is reviewing the possibility of Indonesia's participation in the Vaccinated Travel Lanes programme to revive its tourism sector, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has said.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Indonesian Government isreviewing the possibility of Indonesia's participation in the Vaccinated TravelLanes programme to revive its tourism sector, Coordinating Minister forEconomic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has said.

Addressing a press conference following anevaluation meeting on the mobility restriction policy on November 15, Hartartosaid President Joko Widodo asked ministries and agencies to scrutinise thepandemic situation in countries before establishing any travel agreements.

The Vaccinated Travel Lanes programme is atourism concept implemented by several countries, including those in theAsia-Pacific, that is geared toward fully vaccinated travellers who possessvaccination certificates.

Earlier, Indonesia and Malaysia discussed aplan to reopen a bilateral travel corridor to restore their tourism sectors./.
