Tourists in Bali (Photo: Reuters) Jakarta (VNA) - Ạuthorities of Indonesia’s Bali have recently issued new regulations for foreign tourists to address the increasing number of law violations on this resort island.
In the directive issued on May 31, Governor of Bali Wayan Koster listed several obligations and prohibitions for tourists while on the island. Strict actions, including penalties and legal measures, will be applied to those who violate the regulations.
The most importance is to respect the sanctity of temples, religious symbols, and other sacred religious icons, and dress appropriately when visiting these areas.
Tourists are expected to dress modestly at tourist attractions and public areas, and the act of respect should be adhered to in all public spaces. They are prohibited from entering the main areas of the temples, climbing sacred trees, or engaging in actions that disrespect sacred places and religious symbols.
Gde Pitana, former Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, who joined in drafting the new regulations, believed that the new regulations are aligned with a responsible tourism trajectory, aiming to develop Bali into a sustainable cultural destination based on the principles of Hinduism and benefiting the environment./.
