Jakarta (VNA) - Ạuthorities of Indonesia’s Bali have recentlyissued new regulations for foreign tourists to address the increasing number oflaw violations on this resort island.

In the directive issued on May 31, Governorof Bali Wayan Koster listed several obligations and prohibitions for touristswhile on the island. Strict actions, including penalties and legal measures,will be applied to those who violate the regulations.

The most importance is to respect thesanctity of temples, religious symbols, and other sacred religious icons, anddress appropriately when visiting these areas.

Tourists are expected to dress modestly attourist attractions and public areas, and the act of respect should be adheredto in all public spaces. They are prohibited from entering the main areas ofthe temples, climbing sacred trees, or engaging in actions that disrespectsacred places and religious symbols.

Gde Pitana, former Deputy Minister of Tourismand Creative Economy, who joined in drafting the new regulations, believed thatthe new regulations are aligned with a responsible tourism trajectory, aimingto develop Bali into a sustainable cultural destination based on the principlesof Hinduism and benefiting the environment./.
