Jakarta (VNA) – The Indonesian Government has announced the 14th economic policy package, taking priority on e-commerce development with a roadmap to 2020.

The new economic policy package is expected to pave the way for the country to become the leading e-commerce industry in the region, which worth about 130 billion USD in 2020.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution stressed that the package aims to encourage efficient economic operation of Indonesian and connect them with international market. The promulgated roadmap offers opportunities to strengthen business activities.

The new roadmap for e-commerce growth is expected to protect Indonesia’s national benefits, encourage young generation to create more products and small enterprises’ start-ups, he added.

The package focuses on eight issues covering capital accessibility, tax incentive, consumer protection, human resource development, cyber security, logistics and communications.

According to the World Economic Outlook’s statistics, in 2015, e-commerce market of Indonesia worth 18 trillion IDR (1.4 billion USD), with 37 million users out of the 255 million population.-VNA
