The Southeast Asian country has also coordinated with Google, Facebook and NASA to collect data on people’s movement to support the implementation of emergency public activity restrictions (PPKM).
Meanwhile, the country has mobilised internal resources, including military and public security forces, for community supervision and field hospital building.
At the same time, Indonesian Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that that the country will speed up its vaccination programme with an aim of injecting 5 million doses per day as requested by President Joko Widodo.
Indonesia has received materials to produce 14 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine from Chinese Sinovac company, he said.
On July 6, the Indonesian Government signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in COVID-19 vaccine production with Russia.
On July 7, the country recorded 31,189 new cases and 728 deaths, the highest levels since the pandemic broke out nearly 1.5 years ago, bring the total count to over 2.34 million and the death toll to 61,868.
