Inland aid delivered to Song Tu Tay soldiers, islanders

Lt. Gen. Vinhpraised soldiers and residents for their determination to stay on andprotect Vietnam’s seas and islands, and stressed the support that inlandpeople have shown to those defending the country’s offshoresovereignty.

The 250-strong delegation, includingrepresentatives from the Vietnam Women’s Union, presented soldiers andislanders with practical equipment such as TVs, DVD players, waterfilters, electric fans, computers and crop seedlings.

The inland representatives began their tour to several islands ofTruong Sa (Spratly) archipelago on May 24, and Song Tu Tay was theirfirst destination.

Song Tu Tay is one of the two communes of Truong Sa island district, which also comprises a township.

It accommodates military units, civil and cultural structure and ahydro-meteorological station. Song Tu Tay also houses a dock with enoughspace for hundreds of fishing boats and a repair station.-VNA

Da Nang remains one of the localities most severely and persistently affected by toxic chemicals after the war. The city has more than 37,700 people who rendered services to the revolution, including about 4,790 exposed to toxic chemicals. Among 17,350 people affected by toxic chemicals, nearly 3,900 benefit from policies for persons with disabilities.

Border guards seize 15,200 drug pills, heroin in major trafficking bust

Tuyen Quang to collect DNA samples to identify over 3,900 martyrs

Three main collection hubs will cover 18 spots across the province. This is a key mission within a 500-day national campaign to search for, recover and identify the remains of fallen soldiers, in the lead-up to the 80th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27, 1947 - 2027).
